I was surprised to hear R.E.M. are calling it a day, but it’s hard to believe they’ve been together since 1980. I grew up on Out of Time and Automatic for the People but Murmur and Lifes Rich Pageant were the records that got me. “Radio Free Europe” sparked their start in 1981 and here they are on Letterman in 1983. Rickenbackers all around to rock your jangly minds.
