Orquesta el Macabeo delivers hot music from Puerto Rico with a DIY punk attitude. Their old-school sound is classic yet fresh as they mix salsa with funk and Latin jazz to create some killer grooves. Veterans of the underground scene in Puerto Rico, these musicians have spent years playing rock, hardcore / punk, ska and reggae. The dozen members of Orquesta el Macabeo know how to work a crowd and receive warm support whenever they perform. Their emphasis on piano and percussion drive the songs into a frenzy as dancing shoes melt on hot pavement.
Orquesta el Macabeo just dropped a nice 45rpm single on Electric Cowbell Records. This single is the joint effort of 5 independent labels: Electric Cowbell, Discos de Hoy, CMR, Lucha Libre Discos, Entes Anomicos, and Canya de la Muntanya. Here’s another fine 7″ to sweat to.
