CSC Funk Band – “Catcher’s Mitt”
Here we have a tremendous collaboration by Electric Cowbell Records and Paris DJs. We featured CSC Funk Band’s single, “A Little Weight” b/w “A Little Planet,” back in April. Now they return with another slice of cop show funk on their new split 7″ “Catcher’s Mitt” b/w Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra’s “Ogun.” A delicious Afro-funk stampede of drummers and percussionists blast “Catcher’s Mitt” into a high speed car chase. Whirling keyboards, heavy bass and funky oboe lay down an urgent groove which will make you want to get in your car and break the law, especially when the psychedelic guitar busts into the mix. Instead of getting arrested, listen to “Catcher’s Mitt” and dream of relentless motor escapades in the closing days of summer; windows down, engine purring and music blaring.
On the flip side, Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra (feat. Franck Biyong, Nicolas Baudino, Zakari Frantz) delivers a deadly slice of Afrobeat on “Ogun.” Stay tuned for coverage on the B-side of this great single. In the meantime, grab this limited edition vinyl 7″ on Volcom Ent. from Electric Cowbell Records or Paris DJs before it’s gone.
