Splinters & Candy airs every Monday from 4-5PM ET on independent radio 91.3FM WVKR Poughkeepsie. Live streaming at wvkr.org. Each week Alex Brown presents an eclectic collection of music from around the world.
This is a special show in tribute to my mentor, Akenataa Hammagaadji of First World Music. He helped me get this show on WVKR and has been a constant source of inspiration. This week he ended his African music show on WVKR after thirteen years. In celebration of First World Music, today’s show is entirely comprised of music from the African diaspora. Songs from Cape Verde, Algeria, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Benin, Mali and beyond.

Oh no! I did not know that his show was ending. But I am glad that you are on the line up.
Thanks, Eric. Luckily he will still substitute for DJs when he can. He did a show last Friday which is on firstworldmusic.org and he should be doing another show this Friday from 9am-12pm on WVKR.
