The Black Seeds are groove specialists from New Zealand. They will release their fifth studio album, Dust and Dirt in North America on April 10th on Easy Star Records. The Wellington-based multi-platinum selling group formed in 1998. Led by the soulful vocals of Barnaby Weir and Daniel Weetman, The Black Seeds play a blend of reggae, soul, funk, Afro-beat and dub. Easy Star Records will also be releasing The Black Seeds’ back catalog at the same time as Dust and Dirt. On the Sun and Into the Dojo will be seeing their first ever physical release in North America.
“We are really psyched to be working with The Black Seeds again, both on Dust and Dirt and their back catalog. They are a perfect Easy Star band: they have a deep understanding and feel for the roots and foundation of reggae, while relentlessly pushing their music in new soulful, funky and progressive directions – and they put on an amazing live show! We can’t wait for their NY show, which will be our first chance to see them in person in two years.” – Lem Oppenheimer
The Black Seeds will be performing at Brooklyn Bowl on April 15th. Don’t miss your chance to catch this amazing eight piece ensemble live.
