Empresarios are Washington, DC’s salsa, dub, cumbia, house and reggae specialists. These masters of Tropicaliente are back with their latest album, El Sonido Mágico, on Fort Knox Recordings. The band has found their magic sound and carries this wizardry into every club and venue they hit. Empresarios received a lot of attention after their debut groove, “Sabor Tropical,” blasted the airwaves worldwide.
Band leader and percussionist Javier Miranda and lead singers Frankie Rosado and Felix Perez all hail from Puerto Rico where salsa and cumbia drive dancers wild. They are joined by Paul Chaconas (guitar, melodica) and Anthony Gary (drums). The band’s visual and audio display is enhanced by two DJs (Sammy Khosh & Sonny Cheeba) and a video/effects guru (John Bowen), making the group the ultimate multimedia live act. On El Sonido Mágico horns, melodica and percussion deliver scorching dancing material from upbeat Latin disco house to downtempo dub and electronica. “Salsa de Gala” is a standout cut that will get any party rocking. Empresarios continue to impress on this release, with one ear grounded in the past and the other listening for the future. Sample the album above or on soundcloud and lookout for El Sonido Mágico wherever music is sold.
